About

The Author

As a youngster, I always had a passion to work with children.
I knew early in my adolescent years I was meant to teach.

As the neighborhood babysitter, families on my street in Buena Park, California would call me in advance.  I knew from this experience I would seek out my own education in the field of teaching.

After attending a two-year college for all my general education, I successfully earned a BA Degree from Pacific Oaks College located in Pasadena, California.  Throughout my career working in the Child Development field, I was offered several opportunities beginning as a classroom assistant while attending college, to become the ultimate Head Start Program Administrator.

In this career of 48 years, I also had the opportunity to work directly as a Head Start Program CLASS Reviewer.  I have been fortunate to work with many different programs but working with the Tribal Head Start programs offered me a deep understanding of life and its challenges.

The ability to maintain quality conversations with a child growing and learning how to formulate words, sounds, sentences, express own thoughts or ideas always intrigued me.  I marvel at how children can express themselves and how intelligent regular reading opportunities enhance a child’s thinking and expressions.

Reading offers a child the chance to understand their own world cognitively, socially, emotionally and verbally.
